Biology 2nd, 3rd, and 5th Hours
Today students took the 2nd quiz over Vertebrates. Both quizzes will be handed back at the end of the hour which will make up the bulk of the test for tomorrow. Students should make sure they can answer questions correctly on the quizzes in preparation for the final. There will also be questions over basic concepts such as autotrophic vs heterotrophic and sexual vs asexual reproduction. Most of the accumulative questions are things students should know if they expect to pass biology.
Good luck on tomorrows final.

Students will be working on the reading and question assignment that was posted on the last blog posting of May 11th.

Biology 2nd, 3rd, 5th Hours
After students get through taking their test today, they should begin reading and answering questions on the following material. Again, we are looking at covering several units at one time. We will now venture into the Vertebrate organisms as we finish up the year. Read the following sections and answer the questions that go along with each section. I have not included all questions, but have selected the ones I want you to do.
13. 1 Introduction to Invertebrates. Questions 2, 4,
13.2 The Fishes Questions 1, 4, 5, 6, 7
13.3 Amphibians Questions 1, 2, 4, 7
13.4 Reptiles Questions 1, 2, 5, 6
14.1 Birds Questions 1, 2
14.2 Mammals Questions 1, 3, 4, 5
14.3 Primates Questions 1, 2, 5
Anatomy 4th Hour-
Today I want you to look over the information over the lymphatic system. The link will take you to an electronic diagram of the human body and the structural makeup of the lymphatic system. Directly above the diagram there is a clickable link stating "Lymphatic System Overview". This has a text portion that explains the lymphatic system which goes hand in hand with the circulatory system. On both diagrams of the human body you will see a chart to the right. This chart will allow you to hover over the terms in the box and it will cause a locational pointer to be shown on the diagram of where the structure is found within the lymphatic system.

Lymph Notes- Cute huh, this site has a lot of good information on it. See what you can come up with.

Biology 2nd, 3rd, 5th Hours
We did not get far in lecture during 2nd hour and 3rd hour had mentoring, so we did a preliminary activity to begin helping students create an essay answer for the up coming test. Students will have to write an essay over 5 of the 7 classification strategies for animals as we discussed yesterday in class. Students were warned today, that they should begin practicing for the essay answer by attempting to write it now. If we practice it now, you will be able to gain a quality grade on at least 25% of the test. Notes from material that we should have went through will be posted on the blog tonight.
Anatomy 4th Hour-
I have linked a document below which has several statements (5 ) to be exact. You should spend class time today and tomorrow looking up the answers for this material. We will discuss it in class and come up with the most critical or important pieces which will be on the test.

Biology 2nd, 3rd, and 5th Hours
Today we will be looking at the geologic timetable. This table allows students to explore the history of the planet. Each linked period or epoch gives additional information on what is speculated to have occurred. The students will have the rest of the hour to work on questions which will be due next Tuesday. The geologic time table has been restructured below into a one page spreadsheet in a google document so we can continue to use it.

Students today will be working on the flow- path of blood through the heart. Monday we will have a quiz which covers the structures and their functions as blood flows to, through and away from the heart. We will be discussing some of these structures today in class and you will need to be prepared to answer questions over them on Monday. I have included another site that may be helpful in understanding the material.

Blood Flow Sequence- Amy Ink found this site yesterday and students wanted a copy of it to help them take a look into the flowpath of blood to, through and away from the heart.
